January 2006

Here are few pictures I took today. When I went after work they were still working. The guys were pretty huge and I could tell they didn’t like me driving by and taking pictures! So I only have them from a bit father away.

I can’t really line up pictures with text in Blogger so please forgive the lack of captions.

The one townhouse with walls is next door. The pictures that you can see the white PVC pipe show our building. Yep, those are our white pipes!

I do like that to get to our place you turn on Wycliffe Blvd, then onto Great Commission Way!

I’ve just finished totally revamping our web site. Considering the fact that I don’t know any html or javascript or any other programming language, I think I did pretty well. After playing around with this web design stuff for the past year and a half, I’m finally starting to get a little more comfortable with it. It’s just nice to have the chance to use my brain, since hanging out with two two-year-olds and a four-year-old doesn’t exactly stretch the mental muscles. My patience, on the other hand, is constantly stretched!

So please go visit our web site at www.cockingfamily.com and let me know what you think. I did my best to make sure that there aren’t any broken links or other big problems, but things can always slip by me. Please, please let me know if you find any problems so I can fix them!

Every Monday morning my wonderful parents-in-law watch the girls so I can go grocery shopping ALL BY MYSELF. Those without little kids won’t understand what a treat this is.

Something that’s made my shopping easier for the past year or so is a program called Snowbride. It manages recipes and shopping lists, and it’s a free download. My only complaint is that it’s too easy to accidentally alter the recipe ingredients. But it lets me just check off the things I need on the recipes and it automatically adds them to my shopping list. This program, combined with my 4-week menu plan for dinners, has made my shopping and cooking so much easier!

And no, I don’t have anything to do with Snowbride. I just like the program!

I got Nuendo on my laptop to start practicing mixing for the film! I’m working with Slovinian as a practice language. It’s kind of strange, but having sung some Russian sacred choral works I actually recognize a few phrases here and there

We made it back from IndyCC without too much fuss from the kids. We learned from Paul Jenkinson last year that it’s best to stay an extra day after the conference so that’s what we did. It was always so hard to get packed up on the 1st after tearing down the stage until 2 in the morning. Not to mention trying to stay awake driving!

The band this year was led by Andy McKay who flew in from California with Micheal Lloyd. Lisa and I used to play with both of them at Genesis : the church and at Campus Crusade events around Detroit. We knew Andy from before Genesis started when we were at Oak Pointe Church together. Our drummer once again was Derek Hrabovsky.

It was great to be able to play some of our old arrangements and original worship songs and it was nice that Lisa was able to sing with us this year.

The band picture here is Holly Ewing-vocals, Brandon Abbott-keys, Derek H-Drums, Michael L-Guitar, Ryan Clayton-percussion, Andy M-leader, Tim C-bass, Chris Marchant-violin

Lisa isn’t in the picture because it was taken at 1 a.m. New Years day! Someone had to watch the kids.
